Steven Strope currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life at Cornell College. Now in his fifth year in this role, Steven originally joined Cornell in 2012 as a live-in Assistant Director of Residence Life. Prior to moving to Mount Vernon, Steven spent four years serving as a live-in Residence Life staff member at Augustana College. In his current role, Steven's primary responsibilities include oversight of Residence Life, and working closely with Student Conduct, Student Life, Dining Services and Campus Safety. Originally from the Cedar Rapids, IA area, Steven completed his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Coe College and his masters degree from University of Wisconsin La Crosse in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education.
Megan McVancel

Megan McVancel is the program coordinator for the educational doctorate (Ed.D.) program in Education Policy and Leadership Studies at The University of Iowa. As an educational scholar-practitioner, Megan has a strong research interest in graduate and professional student acculturation, professional identity development, and creating equitable and inclusive learning environments. She previously worked as the Medical Learning Community Coordinator for the Carver College of Medicine and as a high-school math and science teacher. Megan holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Science Education from Arizona and a M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Iowa. In addition to work life, Megan loves being a mom to two little ones, Lily (4) and Zoe (1). Megan loves spending time outdoors with her wife Sam, their kids, and their dog, Sadie.
Anne Sparks
Academic Services Coordinator for Graduate Students

Anne currently works in the Graduate College, at the University of Iowa, where she manages degree clearance and advises graduate students. After graduating from Cornell College, Anne taught English language learners at the K12 and college levels for several years. Recognizing a need to change paths, Anne went back to school for her MA in Higher Education from Iowa, and has found her home in student affairs. Anne is a proud supporter of the Hawkeyes, Cubs, and Tottenham Hotspurs (and a less-proud supporter of the Bears). Whenever possible, she tries to fit in a stay-cation with her wife, Danielle, and newborn son, Huxley.

Brock Cavett
Assistant Director, Alumni Engagement Regional Programs

Brock is at the University of Iowa. He previously served as the Dance Marathon Coordinator at The University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. In this position he advised and coordinated the 3rd largest Dance Marathon program in the country raising over $3 million this past year for the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. He is passionate about connecting students to philanthropy and helping them realize the impact that their hard work truly makes. This is his fourth year involved with ISPA and he is extremely excited to serve as the past Conference Chair.

Kristin Mossman

Kristin Mossman serves as the Administrative Operations Graduate Assistant for the Dean of Students and Student Accessibility Services. Her primary responsibilities include supervising the student hourly staff within both offices, updating the Parents & Family newsletter and managing the Dean of Students social media pages. Kristin received her bachelors degree in Sociology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Kristin is pursuing her Masters in Post-Secondary Education: Student Affairs at UNI.
Jerry Parker, Ph.D.

Jerry began his tenure at Drake University in December of 2014 serving as the Associate Dean of Students. In the fall of 2016, Jerry began serving as the Interim Dean of Students (SSAO) before being permanently appointed in April of 2017. Prior to Drake University, he served in various administrative roles within student affairs at Des Moines University, Iowa Wesleyan University, St. Mary’s University (TX), and Texas State University. Jerry earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas State and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration with a specialization in Organizational Change and Development through the Mays Business School. Jerry, and his wife Michelle, reside in West Des Moines with their two young children, Ben and Josie.
Portia Gresham
Director of Residence Life & Housing

Portia Gresham presently works as Director of Residence Life and Housing for Buena Vista University but her experience in personal and professional development extends far beyond this point. Portia’s work experience began with service to at-risk youth at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Bulverde, Texas, while earning a Bachelor of Art in Psychology at St. Mary’s University. She began working with emotionally abused adolescent women at the Allendale Association and later served as a Crisis Response volunteer for Zachariah’s Center for Sexual Abuse. Portia’s early work experience founded her understanding that development must be fulfilled personally and professionally. Portia transitioned and began work in operations management and later as a Corporate Trainer.

Lynne Cornelius
Violence Prevention Coordinator
Drake University

Lynne is the Violence Prevention Coordinator at Drake University. She works with several student groups to create programming to address sexual and dating violence prevention across campus. Prior to coming to Drake, Lynne worked for Polk County for 17 years. She held roles at the Juvenile Detention Center, Polk County Attorney’s office and Polk County Crisis Advocacy throughout her career. Most recently Lynne was a sexual assault and violent crime victim advocate. This position allowed her to gain a true understanding of the complexity of these difficult situations. Lynne’s experiences allow her a greater understanding of relationship building and true empathy for all students.

Daniel Chou

Daniel graduated with his BA in Psychology from Northern Illinois University and an MS. Ed from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Afterward, he owned and operated a screen printing small business and is the owner of the board game publisher CHOU! Games. He is currently the Assistant Director of Residence Life and Coordinator of Living and Learning Communities at Cornell College, his first small/private experience. He has a furry daughter, Pancakes the Cat, who also has a popular student-requested Instagram. His hobbies include designing and publishing board games, writing a novel, playing video games, and managing his parody online college, CHOU! U.

Sarah Moschenross

Sarah Moschenross was named Dean of Students at Grinnell College in 2015. Previously, Moschenross served as the Director of the McNair TRIO Program at Knox College in Galesburg, IL and as a Residence Director at Coe College.
Moschenross’s primary responsibilities are to oversee the departments of Residence Life, Orientation, Student Assistance, Wellness & Prevention, and to serve as the Chief Conduct Officer and Title IX Deputy for Conduct. A native of Iowa, Moschenross received her BS from Iowa State University in Child and Family Services and her MA from the University of Iowa in Student Development in Post-Secondary Education. Moschenross lives in Grinnell with her partner and their 3 children.

Tony is an Assistant Dean of Students at Drake University. He has served in Residence Life, Event Management, and Student Organizations. Tony’s current area of supervision include Equity and Inclusion, Student Organizations, and Violence Prevention and Education. He is also a PhD candidate in Educational Leadership at Drake University. Hailing originally from Oklahoma, he has lived the last 9 years in Des Moines. Tony previously served as the president of ISPA from 2012-2014.

Allyson Mann

Allyson is currently an Area Coordinator at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Allyson graduated from Central with a BA in Business Management and Marketing in 2016 before pursuing a career in Student Affairs. Allyson is currently working towards her Master’s degree from Western Illinois University in the College Student Personnel: Higher Education Leadership program. Allyson is passionate about working with first-year students and their transition to college while seeing the holistic growth and development through their academic career. Allyson enjoys spending time with her friends and family, including her husky puppy, Ivy. Allyson first attended ISPA during her time in undergrad when deciding to go into Student Affairs, and is excited to be a part of the committee to help plan the upcoming conference.
